Excellent report from Chris Neal, writing for Heartland. Common Core has become a major concern for some parents in North Carolina, a state where homeschooling grew by 14 percent during the last academic year. More children are now getting an education at home than in the state’s private schools. “More and more private traditional schools are choosing to align to the Standards,” said Lynne Taylor, a North Carolina parent who has homeschooled her kids for more than a decade. Public school teachers Karl Priest and Sarah LaVerdiere have an important message for parents of school-age children. The public school system and its experts have a very specific and troubling plan for how to train up your child, do you know what it is?
King Solomon, in the Book of Proverbs, said, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Jesus, in the Gospel of Luke, tells us that “A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.” This is practical wisdom from heaven every Christian parent should heed.
Parents all across the United States and from countries all over the world are not only hearing the Word, they are also doing it. They are removing their children from the government schools and instructing them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
High school teachers Robert Ziegler and R.C. Murray speak directly to teachers about their calling to be salt and light in a system that is hostile to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Jesus told his disciples, “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
A growing number of Christian teachers and administrators are questioning their participation in a government-run system of humanist indoctrination that has helped fragment the Christian family and has played a major role in the de-christianization of American culture.
Increasingly pastors are concluding that the profound decline in standards in the public schools make them unfit places for Christian children. This is becoming a very hot issue among evangelical Christians. Pastor Scott Brown calls his peers to step up to the challenge by making sure Christian Children receive a Christian education.
One of the great tragedies of American Christianity has been the near universal failure of its leaders to boldly proclaim the inherent dangers lurking within America’s government owned and controlled schools.
As the educational philosophy of public schools increasingly mirrors the anti-Christian philosophy of our activist judges the time has come to proclaim with absolute clarity that “render unto Caesar” was never intended to include the hearts and minds of our children.
